“You’ve got subpoena” and the series of me saying, “OK Google, what does ……mean” began.
You, as a tough, thoughtful individual are bound to fall in love with this effortless watch based on a how lawyers at one of the best law firms in New York fight tooth and nail to win every case and at life in general.
In case you’re wondering what you are only going to see is people in fancy suits spitting law based terms then you’re wrong because the writers of suits (Aron Korsh) have beautifully incorporated a clever storyline with every case ‘Pearson Hardman’ handles.
It starts with Micheal ‘Mike’ Ross (Patrik J. Adams) getting into the law firm with the help of a hotshot lawyer- Harvey Specter. He pretends to have attended Harvard Law School, deceiving his way in. What really makes this unrealistic plot work like magic is the extremely well-etched characters. Every role has flesh and the people are real, their reactions are real, the emotions are real. As a genuine fan, I can promise one thing that after you complete watching the episodes released so far, you’ll never be able to imagine anyone else in the place of the actors who played these roles. The mighty Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), the buffoon whom you’ll genuinely feel bad for at times – Louise Litt (Rick Hoffman), the witty and ‘awesome’ Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), the beautiful and smart woman- Rachel Zane(Meghan Markle), the most hottest, smartest lawyer who has an amazing philosophy on life- the HARVEY SPECTER (Gabriel Macht) and the likable guy with an almost inhuman photographic memory – Mike Ross(Patrik J. Adams) are few such sophisticated characters that are played to absolute perfection. You’ll feel that these characters are real and that if you ever met them, you’ll see exactly what you’ve been seeing until now. Apart from the leading cast, the other characters pertaining to a particular case are also noteworthy. You’ll want to punch some in the face. You’ll want to help some. The quality of the video spanning over 40-45 minutes is stunning and coupled with amazing cinematography gives it a feel of a movie with a decent budget. The dialogues are worthy of being noted down and no wonder most badass quotes we see these days have a picture of Harvey Specter in the background.
Although this T.V. series loses its ‘on the edge of your seat’ experience at times, it quickly regains its charm and jumps back on its feet and makes you go, “whoa!!”.
If you’re a person who loves mind-blowing tactics, intense problem solving, manipulating any situation in your favour, you will worship this series. If you are into law, there are a few instances where you won’t be able to agree with certain decisions but hey, where do you get to see hot people wearing Tom Ford saying the wittiest things you’ll ever hear.
With lines such as, “I don’t have dreams,I have goals” or “What are the choices when someone puts a gun to your head? You take the gun or pull out a bigger one, or you call their bluff or you do any of the hundred and forty-six other things” or “When you’re backed against the wall, break the goddamn thing down”, you will see yourself becoming a wee bit tougher, stronger, mightier and a lot more confident. What makes it even enjoyable are the pop culture references. Star Wars, Game Of Thrones, The Soprano, The wire, Forrest Gump, Silence of the Lambs to name a few. You will want to write ‘em down and make a bucket list of movies and series to watch.
This series ‘Suits’ is sophisticated, smart and enjoyable. It provides great suspense, clever plot twists and a well-thought storyline. I’ll go with 4.5/5.
